BCCQ Business Breakfast with King’s College Doha

Monday 19 October 2026 | Kaia, The Ned Doha

How can businesses help prepare the next generation of professionals for an evolving world of work? This was the central question at the British Chamber of Commerce Qatar’s final Business Breakfast of 2026, held in partnership with King’s College Doha, an Elite Sponsor of BCCQ.

Hosted at Kaia, The Ned Doha, the breakfast brought together members of the business network and education sector to explore how closer relationships between schools and industry can help young people develop the knowledge, skills and confidence they need as they take their first steps towards their future careers.

Bringing education and business closer together

Led by King’s College Doha Elodie Jugue a member of the senior leadership team, the discussion considered the importance of ensuring that education and professional life are not viewed as separate worlds, but as closely connected parts of a young person’s development.

Two King’s College Doha students also joined the session, sharing their perspectives, experiences and aspirations. Their contributions brought an important student voice to the conversation, reminding attendees that discussions about employability and the future workforce should include the young people who will ultimately shape it.

As workplaces continue to evolve, particularly in response to technological change, helping students understand the realities of different industries and the expectations of employers is increasingly important. Opportunities to hear directly from professionals can help young people connect what they learn in the classroom with the possibilities that lie ahead.

The role businesses can play

A key message from the morning was that supporting future talent does not need to begin with a formal recruitment programme or a major commitment of resources. Businesses of all sizes can make a valuable contribution by sharing the expertise and experience already held within their teams.

Practical opportunities include careers talks, mentoring, mock interviews, workplace visits, industry workshops and work experience. Businesses can also help students develop their CVs, prepare for interviews and gain a better understanding of the skills and professional behaviours valued in the workplace.

For BCCQ members, these activities offer an opportunity to contribute to the development of Qatar’s future workforce while helping young people explore career pathways they may not previously have considered.

They also create opportunities for meaningful engagement between education and industry, allowing businesses to share their perspectives and gain a better understanding of the aspirations and potential of emerging talent.

Turning discussion into action

The value of bringing business and education together lies not only in raising awareness, but in identifying practical ways to put these ideas into action.

By drawing on the experience of professionals across its membership, BCCQ aims to encourage more opportunities for knowledge-sharing and engagement between the two sectors. Whether through an introduction, a conversation about a particular career or a first-hand workplace experience, small contributions can help a young person make more informed decisions about their future.

The breakfast also reflected the wider value of the BCCQ network: bringing together organisations from different sectors to exchange ideas, learn from one another and explore areas where their expertise can make a difference.

Looking ahead

As BCCQ’s final Business Breakfast of 2026, the event concluded the year’s breakfast programme on an important theme. The series will return in January 2027, continuing to provide opportunities for members and guests to hear from industry leaders, explore relevant business topics and build relationships across Qatar’s business community.

BCCQ extends its sincere thanks to King’s College Doha, our Elite Sponsor, to Principal Kate Jackson and her team, and to the students who contributed their perspectives to the discussion. We also thank The Ned Doha for hosting the morning.

Preparing the next generation is a shared responsibility. By bringing education and business closer together, and making the knowledge within our professional network accessible to young people, we can help create more opportunities for Qatar’s future professionals to learn, grow and succeed.
