Qatar has unveiled Doha Investment, a new investment vehicle designed to drive the country’s next stage of economic diversification by actively building and scaling its leading national companies. Announced by Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani at the Qatar Economic Forum’s UNGA Special Edition in New York, the platform will take over management of the Qatar Investment Authority’s domestic holdings — including major names like Qatar Airways, QNB, Ooredoo, Qatari Diar and Hassad Food — alongside more than 40 other companies operating across upwards of 80 global markets. Beyond overseeing these established players, Doha Investment is also tasked with incubating new national champions in strategic growth areas such as advanced technology, manufacturing, supply chains and healthcare, supporting Qatar’s broader push to widen private-sector participation, strengthen capital markets and diversify the economy in line with its Third National Development Strategy.
